Sour Grape Dap Hater Trolled For Linking Hannah Yeoh Cronyism To New Talentcorp Ceo S Appt

“SAY what you want but don’t deny his capabilities”.
Such was an apt comment directed at a keyboard warrior who recently trained his guns on Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh following the appointment of Edward Ling as the new Talent Corp Malaysia Bhd CEO to replace Thomas Mathew.
This follows a slew of discontent expressed by Aduan Rakyat (@RajyatAduan) who linked Ling’s past to the DAP lawmaker by virtue of him having been a “former polsec (political secretary) and schoolmate”.
“Must be nice to be in @hannahyeoh circle. Her husband’s company got a multi-million Selangor government project approved by a DAP exco,” he trolled the Segambut MP on X.
“Her former polsec and schoolmate is now CEO of TalentCorp. Her ex–press secretary got appointed to the board of @StadiumMalaysia”.
Prior to this, the disgruntled poster also claimed that apart from having served as Yeoh’s political secretary, Ling had also been previously appointed as the then “MPSJ’s (Subang Jaya Municipal Council) councillor under the DAP ticket”.
“Now he’s the CEO of a government agency under a ministry led by DAP with a chairman who’s also from DAP. Untung la political appointee.”
Editor’s Note: TalentCorp comes under the purview of the Human Resources Ministry with its ministership held by Penang DAP chairman Steven Sim Chee Keong while its chairmanship is held by Johor’s DAP deputy chairperson Wong Shu Qi (since June 2024).
For context, Aduan Rakyat started ‘digging’ into Ling’s past association with Yeoh following a Malay Mail report entitled “TalentCorp names former Google and LinkedIn exec Edward Ling as new CEO” with few short posts which are self-explanatory – “Hahaha kabel DAP”; “Untung la masuk DAP”; and “Never estimate your kabel”.

Table turned on Aduan Rakyat
The strongest retaliation to Aduan Rakyat’s so-called allegation is one from The Mamu™ (@The_Mamu) who highlighted that since Ling left the political sphere, the Monash University’s science computing graduate has “a whole bunch” of senior corporate accolades to his credit.
“Fella didn’t wanna contest Subang Jaya (in) 2008 (general election),” defended the The Mamu™ (@The_Mamu) with evidence from Ling’s own LinkedIn updates.
Elsewhere, Madani backers have also chided Aduan Rakyat for targeting DAP when similar practices have also been prevalent during other administrations.
“How about PN, BN, PAS? Don’t you have the list? Kindly reveal,” snubbed cat lover Soy Halima (@nurhalimatun).

Another commenter Anxious for Msia (@anxioustapir) downplayed each and every of Aduan Rakyat’s claim with legitimate responses:
Husband’s firm won a legit RM3.5 mil Selangor project (the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission cleared it);Ex-polsec Edward Ling’s TalentCorp CEO role based on legitimate well-established merit and credentials.Ex-press secretary Rubin Khoo’s PSM (Perbadanan Stadium Malaysia) board post merits-based. No evidence of favouritism.

As one commenter rightly out it, “this happens almost everywhere and in every political party/corporate company/business deal”.
“Networking is what gets you where you want to go. People with huge network tend to get the opportunities as they have built enough trust to do so.”
