“MY foot PAS has changed or trying to be more inclusive … no way they’re going to accept you for they will never be able to change their so-called primitive mindset”.
Such is the frank advice from human rights activist and lawyer Siti Kasim to easily forgetful non-Muslims that they should steer clear of PAS.
This came about in the wake of Penang DAP organising secretary Phee Boon Chee toying with the idea of the party being hopeful to resolve misunderstandings and myths related to Chinese family names by organising courses for PAS leaders and its members.
“I’m unsure if DAP is serious or merely being sarcastic but for sure PAS knows that it has a bad reputation among non-Malays/non-Muslims,” asserted Siti Kasim who shared a long list of evidence to justify her claim in a YouTube video.

According to her, PAS had on Sept 13, 2024 amended its constitution during its 70th muktanar (general assembly) to admit non-Muslins as associate members.
But attracting non-Muslims into PAS is not something new as the Islamist party had in 1985 attempted to establish Chinese Consultancy Council (CCC) as a non-Muslim platform.
As the idea never took off as desired, 2005 saw the establishment of the PAS Supporters’’ Club which was eventually elevated to be the PAS Non-Muslim Supporters’ Wing (DHPP) in 2014.







Dr Balasubramaniam Nachiappan“But the DHPP members aren’t PAS members but more as cheerleaders of the party,” teased Siti Kasim while noting that DHPP chief Dr Balasubramaniam Nachiappan was appointed as senator in the Dewan Negara from 2020 to 2023 during the Perikatan Nasional (PN) administration.
“It is hilarious how the Dr Bala personality can regard this as reflecting the PAS for All aspiration when Malay Muslims like myself don’t feel that PAS is representing us or when the party is still labelling non-Muslims as kafir (infidels),” the Orang Asli advocate hit out.
“At one end, they want to show that they have moved forward by changing their ways but their mindset is still the same if not become worst as Hadi has incessantly been describing non-Malays/non-Muslim citizens as “not knowing how to be grateful” or are always challenge the sanctity of Islam in Malaysia.
“Recall that he has also been attacking them for supporting secularism or even chided non-Muslim women to dress modestly in the wake of a boutique owner in Kota Bahru compounded for wearing shorts in her shop.
“Above all else, Hadi has also remarked that non-Muslims should just leave it to the Malay Muslims to be leaders in the country.”
Siti KasimAs she ran down her list, Siti Kasim also reminded non-Muslims to bear in mind that the Islamic cleric has slammed DAP for sparking Islamophobia following the latter’s “green wave” narrative in the aftermath of GE15 while claiming that the Pakatan Harapan (PH) component party has no moral value.
Moreover, PAS has no qualms to ban gambling/alcohol consumption if allowed to govern the country or even to criticise the royal institution.
“In 2017, Hadi had stated that non-Muslims and immoral Muslims are not qualified to lead the country … beyond that, PAS supported the banning of the word Allah on grounds that it should be exclusively reserved for Muslims.
“And the list is not exhaustive … My final reminder is never to trust people who are full of hypocrisy. PAS has long history of saying one thing and doing another thing – something which has been exposed time and again.” – Focus Malaysia
