Seditious Waytha On Pm S Thousands Of Indians Killed Remark
Malaysian Advancement Party (MAP) president P Waythamoorthy today reminded Anwar Ibrahim that the prime minister’s recent remarks accusing him of labelling Malaysia a tyrannical state where police killed thousands of Indians, constitute sedition.
In a statement today, the former minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (National Unity and Social Wellbeing) accused Anwar of lying in his speech at a civil servants gathering last week.
Waytha alleged that Anwar was also attempting “to distract the nation from the constitutional challenge now hanging over his legitimacy as prime minister”.
“By falsely accusing me of questioning the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s wisdom and decision on (Anwar’s) royal pardon, Anwar is irresponsibly dragging the royal institution into his political games.
ADS“This is not only a reckless exploitation of the highly regarded monarchy, but a dangerous assault on the sanctity of our constitutional order, a threat that should concern every Malaysian.
“Even worse, his malicious claim that I accused Malaysia of being a tyrannical state where the police killed thousands of Indians is nothing short of a lie.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim“This is deliberate incitement, an offence under the Sedition Act, and a grave insult to our police force whose reputation he has now sullied before the nation,” Waytha added.
Anwar last week issued a stern warning against tyranny, be it by majority or minority groups, amid a lawsuit brought by Waytha, questioning the validity of his status as MP and prime minister.
Speaking at a civil service assembly in Putrajaya, Anwar appeared to take aim at Waytha, who had initiated the lawsuit on Aug 12.
Waytha filed a legal suit at the Kuala Lumpur High Court, seeking the court’s declaration that Anwar’s disqualification as an MP “was never revoked” as part of his royal pardon.
He is also seeking the court’s declaration that Anwar’s victory in the Tambun parliamentary seat during the 15th general election (GE15) on Nov 19, 2022, and his subsequent appointment as prime minister on Nov 24, are null and void.
Anwar warns against ‘tyranny of minority’
“A prominent figure, who is now busy challenging a decision of the former Yang di-Pertuan Agong, had previously declared that Malaysia is a cruel country (where) thousands of Indians were killed by the police (and) questioned the rights of the Malays.
“That is (someone from) a minority group… so, when I issue this warning, this is not a warning to the majority only. This is what I said as the tyranny of the minority, and we will not tolerate (as we have) zero tolerance for any form of racism and religious bigotry,” Anwar said in his speech.
He was understood to be referring to remarks made by Waytha circa 2011, when the president of the NGO Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) tabled his presentation on the plight of the Indian community to the Netherlands Parliament.
Malaysiakini’s checks, however, found that the video did not feature claims on the deaths of thousands of Indians at the police’s hands, nor have there been reports of Waythamoorthy making such assertions.
“By delivering such reckless words before senior civil servants, Anwar has crossed a red line, threatening the unity that we, as Malaysians, should strive for. He is attempting to politicise the very machinery of government that should remain impartial and loyal only to the people and the nation.
“This is the behaviour of a desperate man clinging to power, not of a leader worthy of the people’s trust,” Waytha said. - Mkini
