Sabah Sarawak Mere Spectators In Political Drama Laments Kitingan
Perikatan Nasional deputy chairman Jeffrey Kitingan said Muhyiddin Yassin has been the most accommodating prime minister when it came to Sabah and Sarawak rights.KOTA KINABALU: Sabah deputy chief minister Jeffrey Kitingan says that whenever there’s an issue affecting the whole nation, no one bothers to ask what Sabah and Sarawak thinks about it.
“It is as if we in Sabah and Sarawak are mere spectators in this political drama,” the Perikatan Nasional (PN) deputy chairman said in a statement.
“And when the dust settles, we are expected to accept whatever Malayan politicians believe is best for the federation,” he said.
“Now more than ever, it is important for Sabah and Sarawak MPs to be united.
“What we seek is for the federal government to commit to support and implement our long-standing state and financial rights,” said Kitingan, who is Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) president.
He also said Muhyiddin Yassin had been the most accommodating prime minister when it came to Sabah and Sarawak rights.
“If anyone can genuinely say that there is another prime minister who will listen to us as Muhyiddin has, I am all ears. But, as of now, I don’t believe there is,” he said.
The opposition should thus embrace Muhyiddin’s offer of bipartisan political cooperation for the sake of political stability.
He added that it was clear Muhyiddin’s primary concern was combating Covid-19 and that he was willing to do everything in his power to help the country achieve herd immunity. - FMT
