Rm20 Million Spent On Kl Tower Repairs Upgrades
The concessionaire expects to attract one million visitors this year to the tower, which reopened its doors to the public today.

(Envato Elements pic)KUALA LUMPUR: A total of RM20 million has been spent on repairs and improvements to facilities at the Kuala Lumpur Tower since it was temporarily closed last week, the tower’s concessionaire said today
The upgrades were to the main tourist attractions, such as the open-air Skydeck, front terrace, and revolving restaurant, said Lim Keng Cheng, chairman of Lim Seong Hai Capital Bhd, parent company of the concessionaire, LSH Service Master Sdn Bhd.
The concessionaire’s CEO, Khairil Faizal Othman, said the company hopes to attract one million visitors this year, while maintaining the daily number of 1,000 to 1,500 visitors.
Khairil said the new management had used the previous week to prepare for the reopening. “We will continue our upgrading works to set a new standard for the tower,” he said.
The telecommunications tower, commonly known as KL Tower, stands 421m-tall and is the world’s seventh-tallest tower. It has the highest viewpoint in Kuala Lumpur that is open to the public.
LSH Service Master was awarded a 20-year concession from April 1 to manage the tower, following the expiry of Menara Kuala Lumpur Sdn Bhd’s contract on March 31.
The two companies had been engaged in a legal dispute after Menara Kuala Lumpur and its parent company, Hydroshoppe, disputed the award of the new concession.
Lim later said a total of 193 out of 205 staff had returned to work. - FMT
