Why Evict Us When Case In Court Ex Kl Tower Operators Ask Govt
Former KL Tower operator Menara Kuala Lumpur Sdn Bhd (MKLSB) and Hydroshoppe Sdn Bhd decried the Federal Lands Commissioner’s move to evict them despite a pending court case.
MKLSB managing director Abdul Hamid Shaikh Abdul Razak said the issue should have remained status quo until the court hearing date.
“When a case is filed in court, it should be status quo, and no one should disrupt it until the trial date, which is set on June 9.”
On April 8, The Edge reported that the Kuala Lumpur High Court rejected MKLSB and Hydroshoppe’s application for an interim injunction to halt the award of the KL Tower concession to LSH Service Master Sdn Bhd.
Judge Roz Mawar Rozain ruled that the balance of convenience did not favour granting the injunction to the former operator.
However, she said the two companies could continue to seek a remedy from the trial for their lawsuit, which the court will hear and decide on.

The ministry stressed that the iconic tower belongs to the government and its operations, management, and maintenance have been taken over by LSH Service Master Sdn Bhd since April 1.
The ministry claimed that MKLSB has been illegally occupying the premises since March 31.
At a presser later, Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil defended the move to enforce the eviction.
On that note, Hamid expressed regret with the government’s move to conduct a massive operation to evict them, which also involved the police and Kuala Lumpur City Hall.
“In fact, even LSH Service Master CEO Khairil Faizal Othman and some of his employees joined the operations,” he claimed. - Mkini
