Putrajaya Classified No Fly Zone For Drones Ahead Of National Day Celebrations

Contractor workers carry out maintenance work around Dataran Putrajaya in preparation for the Independence Day celebration on August 31 in Putrajaya. - NSTP/MOHD FADLI HAMZAHPUTRAJAYA: The public is reminded not to fly drones without prior approval from the authorities during the preparations for and celebration of National Day 2025, which will take place from next Monday until Aug 31 at Dataran Putrajaya.
Putrajaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Aidi Sham Mohamed said Putrajaya is classified as a no-fly zone for drones.
He said stern action will be taken against anyone found violating this directive, in accordance with Regulation 143 of the Civil Aviation Regulations (MCAR) 2016 and Section 206(3) of the same act.
"The armed forces will also be conducting ceremonial cannon fire during the full rehearsal and on the day of the celebration.
"The full rehearsal at Lot 3C1, Precinct 3 is scheduled for 8am on Aug 29 and will involve two rounds of cannon fire.
"On the main event day, Aug 31, also at 8am, a total of 14 cannon rounds will be fired at the same location," he said in a statement today.
He advised Putrajaya residents not to panic or be alarmed upon hearing the cannon fire, which is part of the official celebration programme.
He also urged attendees to plan their journeys in advance.
"The public is encouraged to use alternative transportation provided by the organisers, such as shuttle buses and water taxis, for convenience and to help ease traffic congestion," he added.
