Psm Muda Need A Strong One State Strategy
With disappointment in politics and politicians on the rise, I feel there is a need to shake up the status quo, especially since the next general election appears bound to be a repeat of the same utter nonsense.
So, I’m offering PSM-Muda some free unsolicited advice.
You need bigger ambitions than being a check and balance or mosquitoes nipping at the heels of elephants.
So forget about defending your two seats, trying to win back the Sungai Siput parliamentary seat, or going after ministers’ scalps.
Instead, pick a state, Selangor, Penang, Johor, or Perak, focus 100 percent of your efforts there and develop a one-state strategy that can be implemented by mid of this year, as soon as possible.
Keeping it simple
Your message should be simple: Give us a shot at forming the state government, let us prove we can govern better.
The message must be accompanied by a solid, realistic, and deliverable manifesto on what you would do if given the opportunity.
Parts of that manifesto, concerning welfare and community wellbeing, should be realised as soon as possible.
Do fundraisers to enact community healthcare or food programmes, neighbourhood cleanups, youth development initiatives, tuition classes, or whatever else you can think of that give a glimpse of what your policies could be if you were in charge of the state.
The campaign and efforts must appeal to all races and all social classes, especially the young and disenfranchised.
Do it boldly, and be consistent.
Don't wait until months before an election to start a campaign, cultivate the ground now.
Stop being a disappointment
Come election time, contest in all the state seats, and maybe a handful of Parliament seats if you have the funds and confidence.
Maybe you won’t succeed in your first attempt, but who knows, maybe you’ll do better than the measly 1.27 percent of votes you got in the 2023 Selangor state election.
If you fail, don’t give up, try for another election cycle.
For Madani, if the idea of such a campaign bothers you, the takeaway isn’t that there are efforts to topple you.
The takeaway is that you need to buck up and stop being a disappointment. - Mkini
