No One Is Above The Law Including My Son Saifuddin

Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has reiterated that his son is not above the law, adding that any police investigation involving him must be conducted transparently and fairly.
His remarks followed a recent case that went viral on social media, involving allegations of criminal intimidation linked to the son of a cabinet minister that went viral on social media.
“Let the process take its course. I firmly believe that no one is immune to the law, including my son.
“If the investigation finds there is a basis for action, let the legal process proceed accordingly,” Saifuddin (above) said during a working visit to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) this morning.
The police confirmed on Thursday that the investigation paper for the case had been completed and submitted to the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) for further action.
Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain stated that the investigation was referred to the deputy public prosecutor on Jan 6, following a police report lodged by the complainant on Jan 1. He also emphasised that the police do not compromise or shield anyone involved in wrongdoing.
“All parties involved in the case have had their statements recorded. The investigation is now in the hands of the DPP for further action in accordance with existing legal provisions,” Razarudin said.
The allegation
On Jan 8, Bersatu leader Badrul Hisham Shaharin cancelled at the last minute his plan to lodge a police report on an alleged rape and intimidation case involving the son of a cabinet member.
Speaking to reporters outside a police station in Kuala Lumpur, the Port Dickson Bersatu division chief, also known as Chegubard, said the decision was made after learning that the purported victim had withdrawn her police report.
Malaysiakini learned that the content of a purported police report regarding the alleged incident was published on the Edisi Siasat Telegram channel.
Among others, the purported report mentioned a pregnant woman being threatened by her boyfriend. - Mkini
