Pas Mp Heartsick Harakah S Debt Brought Up In Parliament
PARLIAMENT | A PAS MP was furious when the issue of payment arrears for the printer of the party’s official newspaper Harakah, estimated to be millions of ringgit, was raised in Parliament.
Speaking in the Dewan Rakyat, Mohd Misbahul Munir Masduki (PN-Parit Buntar) said the issue raised by RSN Rayer (Harapan-Jelutong) had nothing to do with Budget 2024 which was being debated today.
Under the House Standing Orders 36, when debating a bill to amend a principal act, a member of the house shall be allowed to speak on matters relating to the bill only and not on matters involving the principal act.
“We are hurt by Rayer’s statement, busy raising issues that have nothing to do with the 2024 budget. Enough,” Misbahul (above) said during the Budget 2024 debate session by Onn Abu Bakar (Harapan-Batu Pahat).
Earlier, Rayer stood up to demand an explanation from Misbahul about why Harakah’s debt to the printer was not paid.
Not satisfied with Rayer’s actions, Misbahul asked Deputy Speaker Alice Lau to issue an order for Rayer to retract his statement.
RSN Rayer (Harapan-Jelutong)“Yesterday he raised it too, today he raised it too, we are hurt. We are heartsick. This is the rule of the meeting, you (Lau) have to make a ruling and withdraw it,” he said.
Previously, Malaysiakini reported the grievances of the NAJ Press Resources (M) Sdn Bhd manager Hussin Jan, who expressed his anger at seeing PAS and the party’s leadership “living a lavish lifestyle” when the debt to his company was not paid.
The outstanding payment for printing the party’s Harakah publication was estimated to be millions of ringgit.
PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man however asked the printing company to wait for a court decision regarding the debt arrears. - Mkini
