Pas Leaders Told To Sell Vip Number Plates To Pay Harakah Ex Printers

Perak Amanah Youth has suggested that PAS leaders sell their VIP number plates to settle the outstanding payments to the former printers of the party’s official mouthpiece Harakah.
The wing’s executive council member Azhar Rahman said it is common knowledge that PAS leaders have luxurious vehicles with expensive VIP number plates.
“Selling or auctioning the number plates might not be able to settle the entire amount owed but at least a portion of it can be paid.
“Apart from being a proactive step to obtain funds quickly, it can also serve as an example to PAS members to understand the meaning of sacrifice,” he told Malaysiakini today.
Azhar (above) was commenting on PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man telling the printers to wait for the court’s decision on the matter.
However, the Amanah Youth leader said PAS should not burden the printers who dug into their own pockets to cover the cost.
Furthermore, he said it is inappropriate for PAS to claim its grassroots members did not make payments to Harakah, which resulted in the financial quagmire.
Azhar said PAS must prioritise settling the debt because this is emphasised in Islam.
“As a party vocal in proclaiming that Islam is the panacea for all ills on earth, PAS should realise that paying debts is compulsory and must be expedited.
“Don’t be a party which is vocal about Islam during elections when its leaders do not walk the talk,” he added.
According to Azhar, this issue would allow people to judge PAS on the aspect of good management.
Faiz FadzilYesterday, Amanah leadership committee member Faiz Fadzil said the dispute revealed PAS’ poor financial skills, which can be seen in how it administers Kelantan and Terengganu.
The son of the late former PAS president Fadzil Noor also painted a bleak picture if the Islamist party governed Malaysia.
On Sunday, Malaysiakini reported the former Harakah printers criticising PAS over the outstanding payments, with NAJ Press Resources (M) Sdn Bhd manager Hussin Jan accusing the party leadership of leading a lavish lifestyle.
“They use luxury cars, organise muktamar at the Ideal Convention Centre (IDCC) in Shah Alam with a fee that is sure to reach tens of thousands of ringgit. But when it comes to debt, they don’t even bother to solve the issue.
“It has been almost seven years; the debt has not been paid in full,” he said. - Mkini
