Now Netizens Mock Govt With Kerajaanbodoh Tag

PETALING JAYA: The government’s announcement of stricter measures to curb Covid-19 infections has led to social media users picking up and using the mocking hashtag #KerajaanBodoh.
The new hashtag comes in the wake of the earlier tag “#KerajaanGagal” which accompanied the views of those who felt the government had failed with the pandemic and in managing the country’s affairs.
Some 16,200 tweets have been posted under the new hashtag at press time, as social media users took to Twitter to express their dissatisfaction with new rules under the movement control order.
One Twitter user using the handle @nishanneymessi questioned the rationale behind the latest restrictions, under which most businesses are allowed to operate from 8am to 8pm.
“With 6,000 cases and 50+ deaths every day, new variants spreading, and the best thing the government can do is shorten operating times?” he said, while asking if Covid-19 was only active at night.
User “Hishamuddin A Kassim” pointed out that 80% of government workers and 40% of the private sector were required to work from home, while the same rule applied to 100% of MPs.
Noting that Parliament was still suspended, “Jason Low” suggested for all ministers to take a pay cut until the emergency was lifted.
“That might help put some empathy in that deep dark hole where your heart was,” he said, marking his posting with #KerajaanGagal #KerajaanBodoh #MuhyiddinOut.
Commenting on the stricter movement control rules released today, “Farrah Alina” said even her eight-year-old child could come up with decisions in under a day.
Meanwhile, “Izs” claimed that the government was prioritising the economy over human life with its latest policies. “After all, money is more important,” he said.
“Shahmin”, in response to news that Employees’ Provident Fund members had withdrawn up to RM78 billion from the i-Sinar and i-Lestari programmes, mockingly praised the government’s achievement.
“People are using their own retirement savings to survive.”
Another netizen, known as “Mira” posted a picture of New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern with the caption “Can we borrow her for a month or two to end this #KerajaanBodoh?”
Ardern is much admired for her leadership and handling of the pandemic in her country, where the number of new infections has remained below 10 every day. - FMT
