Negeri Sembilan Pkr Youth Joins Revolt Against Akmal Nasir State Chief
Infighting in PKR Youth is heating up with a majority of the wing's divisions in Negeri Sembilan joining the revolt against their wing chief Akmal Nasir.
The Rembau, Rasah and Port Dickson PKR Youth divisions (three out of five) - said Akmal's move to terminate the Selangor and Perlis wing leaderships, as well as several central leaders in a reshuffle, was "sabotaging" party president Anwar Ibrahim's efforts.
"The PKR Youth grassroots in Negeri Sembilan have lost confidence in Akmal's (above) leadership," the heads of the three divisions said in a statement late last night.
The statement was signed by Mohd Effendi Mat Aris (Rembau), Ahmad Izzuddin Ismail (Rasah) and Muhamad Affandi Abdul Malik (Port Dickson).
Port Dickson is the parliamentary constituency headed by Anwar.
The Negeri Sembilan PKR Youth's messaging, and the presence of the Port Dickson division in the revolt - lends credence to claims that there is a proxy power struggle between those aligned to the party’s former vice-president Rafizi Ramli and Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak, who is Anwar's political secretary.
In their statement, Mohd Effendi, Ahmad Izzuddin and Muhamad Affandi also backed a call by PKR Youth rebels for an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) to be called to appoint a new wing chief.
Besides Akmal, the three divisions also expressed no confidence in state Youth chief Hafiz Mohamad - whom they described as a lame duck.
The appointment of state PKR Youth heads is the prerogative of the PKR Youth chief, which is an elected position. - Mkini
