Muhyiddin Doesn T Appreciate Zahid
ZAHID's court case resumes today at the KL High Court. Anyone who follows the case closely will easily able to distinguish the fact that the prosecution team is losing while the defense gains steam as witness after witness gave testimony in his favor.
What intrigues me is when the court allowed the prosecution to find new evidence and let the hearing to drag on at least until March next year. Even the queen witness in the trial had admitted some 'wrongdoings' in issuing the cheques purportedly undersigned by the Umno president.
I don't wanna say much about it because I find it quite mischieving, only to notice how some parties want him out of the local political scene. Somebody might have orchestrated it. If not, someone with the ultimate power could have easily advised the AG and the court to just drop the case.
However, it never happened. Although Zahid has said that he wanted the court to clear his name, at least there were some helping hands to the case, knowing how significant Zahid and Umno are to the Perikatan Nasional government.
Sorry to say that PM Muhyiddin didn't 'help' at all, let alone considering Zahid as the someone who installed him as prime minister. His Bersatu sec-gen Hamzah Zainuddin too, believed to have 'sabotaged' Umno in the recent Sabah state election when he was accused of planting some Independents at Umno-contested seats.
Sickening!
Let me take the cue from an Anti-DAP blog which carried a story about political assassination, how it was done and the dirty tactics to bury someone deemed as a competitor in politics and other disciplines. It has been going on for decades.
In Malaysian politics, character assassination is most cruel and unjust. In this case, Zahid and other Umno leaders may have been put under tremendous pressure to either buck off, resign, shut up or most like end up behind bars.
I am not disputing the guilty verdict on Bossku but in Zahid's case, its easy to identify the knife sharpened for him. Right after GE14, there were efforts to bring him down as Umno president and contender for the PM post.
Pakatan Harapan regime was fast to lock him down by using the MACC, the judiciary and perhaps the police to wrestle his politics, denying him of his party obligations and smearing his name with various bad dispositions. It worked alright which led to a tantamount pressure for him to step down as the party president just months after winning it.
It didn't stop just there. Some factions in Umno, notably the Pemuda and some MPs have threatened him of crossovers if he refused to resign or take leave, and that have prompted him to be out for six months.
As the Opposition then, Dr Mahathir (as the PM) and other Cabinet members kept on with their character assassination by giving public perception that Zahid and the rest were already guilty and that they should be out of politics and jailed.
Under the PN government, I (and others) were hoping that Muhyiddin would at least asked the court to speed up his court case, joined the Cabinet and march on as a team. However, I am of the opinion that the PM himself is not taking up the case seriously as if Zahid is a threat to his government. To him, Zahid is as good as 'gone!'
They see Zahid as a dynamic, successful individual, a born leader, highly charismatic, popular and inspiring. That's is why he is the subject of character assassination by 'friends in PN'. The Sabah election has proven this.
PN's agents of character assassinations employ a mix of open and covert methods to achieve their goals, such as raising false accusations, planting and fostering rumors, and manipulating information. Character assassination also happens through character attacks.
The problem with Zahid is, he usually don't fight back. In his mind, the best defence against any character assassination is to maintain his integrity and take pride in what he does, whatever that may be. Fighting back just feeds the fire, and clouds the issue. And this provides more rooms for Bersatu and others to belittle his role in the government.
Maybe the PM, Hamzah and other are not really sincere with Zahid and Umno. To me, anybody with the title prime minister and home minister will protect their colleagues as the have direct access to the attorney-general, the judiciary, the police and other authorities. Don't tell me they are 'neutral', its bullshit!
If they are, then Zahid should 'neutralise' them soon!
