Muda Only Syed Saddiq 12 Others Are Co Founders Of Party
Only Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman and 12 others are the co-founders of the Malaysia United Democratic Alliance (Muda) party, said its leaders.
In a statement on Twitter last night, Muda said it wished to clarify that at this point there are only 13 party co-founders and it encouraged the media to direct their enquiries to them.
They are Syed Saddiq, Afiqah Zulfili, Amir Abd Hadi, Dr Mathen Nair, Teo Lee Ken, Dr Thanussha F Xavier, Lim Wei Jiet, Luqman Long, Mutalib Uthman, Radzi Tajuddin, Sharizal Denci, Siti Rahayu Baharin and Tarmizi Anuwar, who are a mix of young professionals and activists.
"Currently they represent the party and the interest of the party and we urge the media to direct their questions to them.
"Muda also has volunteers to help with communications engagement but at this point, no one on an official capacity yet," it said.
The party was formed by Syed Saddiq on Sept 17. He was initially elected an MP under the Pakatan Harapan coalition as a member of Bersatu, but was sacked in May along with former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and a few others who went on to form Pejuang.
"We would also like to note that once Muda is officially registered, we will expand beyond the first 13 to ensure we encapsulate the diversity and different representations in Malaysia," Muda added.
Syed Saddiq had said that this new party looks to the La Republique En Marche! party of French President Emmanuel Macron and the now-defunct Future Forward Party of Thailand as role models, and that the new party will be multi-racial and youth-based.
