We Are Not Supporting Either Anwar Or Muhyiddin Says Pejuang

PETALING JAYA: All five MPs from Parti Pejuang Tanah Air will not support PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in his bid to be the ninth prime minister, says its interim president Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir (pic).
Mukhriz said they want a vote in the Dewan Rakyat to see which MP holds the majority support to be the next PM.
He said Pejuang's decision should not be regarded as support for Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
Pejuang currently has five MPs including Mukhriz and former two-time prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
"Anwar declared he is not seeking our support and still commands a formidable, strong and convincing majority (basically he says he doesn’t need us)," said Mukhriz in a text message when contacted Sunday (Oct 11).
The former Kedah mentri besar also said that Pejuang decided not to support Anwar especially after the Port Dickson MP announced on Sept 23 that Umno MPs were also among those who supported him in his bid to be PM.
"Anwar has yet to declare which Umno MPs are supporting him.
"We are sticking to our principle that we cannot support a government which has any MPs having cases being tried in court (or worse still, have been found guilty by the court).
"Even though these MPs may not be included in the majority Anwar claims, if there is any action by the Attorney General to withdraw cases involving these MPs if Anwar becomes PM, it will then be seen as part of some deal between Anwar and them.
"This should not be interpreted as support for Muhyiddin's government.
"We are still pushing the Parliament to table the vote of no confidence against Muhyiddin this coming session," said Mukhriz.
On Oct 8, Anwar said he has been granted an audience with Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah on Tuesday (Oct 13) where he will present statutory declarations (SDs) from MPs in support of his bid to be the ninth prime minister. - Star
