BN secretary-general Nazri Abdul Aziz laughed aloud when told of MCA and MIC's purported plan to kick out Umno from the coalition

"That's the end of MCA and MIC then. The strength of BN lies with Umno, not them. They have been rejected by their communities," Nazri told Malaysiakini
MCA and MIC today said they were "moving on" and exploring a "new alliance" following Umno's silence on racial remarks by Nazri and other Umno leaders
A high ranking leader close to MCA and MIC's negotiations, told Malaysiakini they are exploring the option of kicking Umno out of BN
Previously, MCA had mooted plans to dissolve BN
Nazri was unperturbed by the development, saying that BN can't be dissolved if one party votes against it
"If they don't like BN, they can just leave like the Sarawak parties did. There's no need to make any motions. Just leave, I hope they walk the talk," he said
Nazri said he was "very happy" MCA and MIC are moving on, adding that Umno can find other non-Malay allies to replace them
"We can work with IPF and Kimma, and we can open direct membership for individual Chinese and Indians to be BN members," he said
He added that Umno was also looking at a "very permanent" cooperation with PAS
Tensions between MCA and Umno had been simmering after the former called for Nazri to be sacked as BN secretary-general, after the latter was alleged to have called for Chinese and Tamil schools to be closed
Nazri had denied wanting vernacular schools to be closed, and accused the media of misquoting him. He explained that his remarks were meant to show that if Malay privileges were disputed, so too would the privileges of non-Malays be disputed, including the right to have vernacular schools.
From his speech, Malaysiakini reported Nazri as warning the non-Malays against questioning Malay special privileges or risk compromising on vernacular schools
"I have already explained myself, I never made any racial statement. What more do they want
"I never attacked any parties. It was MIC's SA Vigneswaran, MCA's Wee Ka Siong, Chew Mei Fun, and Nicole Wong, they are the ones who attacked me," Nazri said today. - Mkini
