Mahfuz Pn Mired In Pm Fight M Sians Should Stick With Madani
Malaysians deserve leaders who prioritise urgent issues like the rising cost of living, job creation, education, and securing the future of the next generation, not politicians mired in endless power struggles, said Amanah vice-president Mahfuz Omar.
He argued that Perikatan Nasional cannot be trusted to govern, as its parties remain divided over who should be prime minister.
Mahfuz (above) pointed out that Bersatu nominated its president and PN chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin for the role, while PAS Youth instead pushed for the Islamic party’s deputy president, Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.
“Although Tuan Ibrahim rejected the proposal, the atmosphere of the muktamar and PAS leaders’ response to Bersatu’s decision to unanimously nominate Muhyiddin clearly shows that PN is mired in a struggle for power and positions, instead of organising an agenda to solve the people’s problems.
ADS“The dispute over who should be prime minister only confirms that the people’s interests are not their top priority.
“PAS’ response clearly indicates that the party wants the prime minister post for itself. If PN cannot even reach consensus on top leadership matters, how can they be trusted to offer political and economic stability to the people?
“Internal divisions like this only heighten anxiety and erode public and investor confidence in the country’s future,” he said in a statement.
PAS’ candidates
The clash comes on the heels of Bersatu’s annual assembly, after which PAS Youth, during its own muktamar, unanimously passed a resolution urging the party leadership to take over PN and lead the country.
PAS Youth chief Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden even floated the names of other “capable leaders” - Kedah Menteri Besar Sanusi Nor, Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, and vice-president Idris Ahmad - as prime minister candidates.

PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man“Our number one choice is the deputy president. Our party president (Abdul Hadi Awang) is also capable, but given his health issue, perhaps the best person is our deputy president,” he said.
Mahfuz called on Malaysians to judge PN’s internal turmoil wisely, stressing that the Madani government under Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has proven its commitment to defending the people and driving the nation’s progress. - Mkini
