Let There Be Light Tnb Illuminates Mco Security Posts

CORONAVIRUS | Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) has illuminated 120 movement control order (MCO) security posts in the Peninsular
This was done after the firm discovered that security personnel were forced to operate in these posts without proper lighting
According to TNB, this is a small contribution for the safety and convenience of the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) and the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) personnel who are among the frontliners in the fight to curb the spread of the Covid-19 virus
“We hope this initiative can provide convenience and improve the safety of the police and armed forces who are on night duty,” said its chief distribution network office Baharin Din
“Street lamps have been installed in several locations in collaboration with PDRM and ATM to assist their personnel in controlling public movement throughout the MCO. We are also identifying other locations that require lighting,” he added in a statement today
Baharin explained that electricity supply to the tents and security posts are supplied via the nearest TNB power lines while street lights are installed at TNB's existing electricity poles
The posts which have been illuminated to date are located in Bentong and Temerloh in Pahang, Kulai, Pontian and Kluang in Johor, Seremban and Kuala Pilah in Negeri Sembilan Kota Bharu, Kelantan; Merlimau and Jasin in Malacca, Kuala Kangsar, Perak and Kuala Lumpur
The MCO was implemented on March 18 to flatten the infection curve. It was scheduled to end on March 31 but has been extended to April 14
Several areas, including three buildings in Kuala Lumpur, have been placed under a total lockdown or enhanced MCO due to the hight number of Covid-19 positive cases in these areas
Whereas 23 districts nationwide have been categorised as red zones after recording more than 40 cases
On Friday, the Health Ministry would submit the relevant data to the government to determine if another MCO extension is required
As of yesterday, Malaysia recorded 3,963 Covid-19 cases and 63 deaths. - Mkini
