A special meeting of Cabinet members was held on Saturday to discuss Covid-19 measures. (Bernama pic)PETALING JAYA: After a cabinet minister was confirmed to be infected with Covid-19, the hashtag “klustermenteri” is currently trending on Twitter, with more than 11,000 tweets bearing the hashtag posted.
One netizen, identified as Syefri Zulkefli, tweeted: “Look like #KlusterMenteri is becoming a real thing.
Another Twitter user, Rohan Javet Beg, said such a cluster wasn’t unexpected. “This was the inevitable result of the ruling class blatantly flouting SOPs and assuming that a pandemic would we as selective as the law.
“Indifference triggered this wave.”
Among the more popular tweets was one by satirical graphic artist Fahmi Reza, which featured a poster urging ministers to sit quietly at home in self-quarantine. His tweet had been shared by more than 2,800 other users at press-time.
The Twitter reaction came in the wake of religious affairs minister Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri revealing that he had contracted the virus, just moments after health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said an individual who attended the special Covid-19 meeting on Oct 3 tested positive.
Noor Hisham also said everyone who had attended the meeting had undergone a health screening and had been tested for Covid-19 today.
Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, who chaired Saturday’s meeting, later said he would undergo home quarantine for 14 days.
Muhyiddin also said the health ministry had identified those who came into close contact with Zulkifli and they had been issued with a home surveillance order. - FMT
