KLIA also holds the world’s No 1 spot among low-cost carrier megahubs, with AirAsia contributing about 36% of its operations.
Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) managing director Izani Ghani said the recognition as Asia Pacific’s most connected airport reflects the strength of KLIA’s hub position and its contribution to Malaysia’s global standing.
“As we prepare for Visit Malaysia Year 2026, our priority is to expand connectivity, build capacity, and reimagine the passenger journey.
“We want KLIA to stand not only as a source of national pride, but as a world-class hub that drives Malaysia’s growth and connects our nation to the future of global travel,” he said in a statement.
Izani said KLIA’s climb in the OAG global rankings demonstrates the progress made by the airport operator’s strategy, which revolves around service excellence, growth and capacity.
KLIA’s recognition follows the addition of six new airlines and the launch of 11 new routes from the airport.
