Kelantan Pas Youth Chides J Kom Dg Over Dirty Comparison

Kelantan PAS Youth has chastised Community Communication Department (J-Kom) director-general Mohammad Agus Yusoff for being "not careful" in his criticisms of basic facilities in the state.
Its vice-chairperson Mohd Firdaus Nawi particularly took issue with Agus' (above) comparison between Kelantan and Pakatan Harapan-ruled Penang.
"You should be careful about what you say. Penang is innocent but Agus has dragged it into this issue through nauseating comparisons.
"If you want to say that Kelantan is dirty with garbage, just say so and don't compare because Penang also faces the same problem," he said in a statement today.
Firdaus referenced several media reports on issues of river pollution and illegal dumping in Penang.
This included a statement by Housing, Local Government, Town and Country Planning Exco Jagdeep Singh Deo in June 2019 that illegal dumping was on the rise and a Sahabat Alam Malaysia statement in April 2022 urging the state government to be more aggressive in clamping down on river pollution.
"Once again, Penang is not wrong, but what is wrong is Agus," said Firdaus, adding the claim that Agus's position is disputed not only by opponents but also by others within the government components.
PAS has led the Kelantan state government for 33 years since winning in 1990, but it remains among the country's poorest states.
Yesterday, Agus, who is a former political science lecturer, said that when he returned to Kelantan to celebrate Hari Raya, poor water quality, narrow and potholed roads, and uncollected garbage were among three problems he persistently encountered.
"Going back to Kelantan to celebrate Raya. Three things that make me sad.
"The water is slow and the quality is bad. The road is narrow and potholed. Garbage is piled up everywhere and it's dirty," he said.
He also wrote that he was going to Penang to enjoy a “different” atmosphere. - Mkini
