It S Slander Say Lim Khalid On Edisi Siasat S Claims They Stole Millions
Khalid Samad urged those behind Edisi Siasat to ‘stand up’ so that he could sue them while Lim Guan Eng claimed the account was supportive of Najib Razak.PETALING JAYA: Lim Guan Eng and Khalid Samad have denied “whistleblower” Twitter account Edisi Siasat’s allegations that they “stole millions” when they were federal ministers for 22 months.
Lim and Khalid, who were the finance and federal territories ministers respectively when Pakatan Harapan was in power, described the claims as “lies” and “slander”.
Khalid, the Amanah communications director, urged the people manning the controversial account to make themselves known so that he could file a suit against them.
“I ask those behind Edisi Siasat to stand up, show themselves and take responsibility for their comments,” the Shah Alam MP told FMT.
Meanwhile, Lim accused Edisi Siasat of going after him as he was a “soft target” since he had already been charged by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for corruption over the undersea tunnel project.
He reiterated that this was despite the MACC not finding “a single sen of gratification” in his possession or any audio recording of him soliciting for money.
The DAP secretary-general questioned Edisi Siasat’s motives for making the allegations, adding that the site seemed to be very supportive of former prime minister Najib Razak recently.
In a Twitter post last night, Edisi Siasat claimed there were many from the opposition who were “more corrupt than Barisan Nasional”, specifically accusing Khalid and Lim of impropriety.
“Khalid had stolen millions when he was a minister, and so did Lim. Edisi Siasat would not vote for BN, PH or Perikatan Nasional (in the next general election),” it said. - FMT
