Is Razman In Line For Pm As Pas Opens Up Leadership Choices
SEVERAL grassroots leaders within PAS assert that any party member, regardless of rank, is capable of serving as Perikatan Nasional’s (PN) prime ministerial candidate.
Following this logic, does that mean even PAS Perak Commissioner Razman Zakaria could be in line for the role?
PAS Grassroots Open to Any Leader as PN’s PM Candidate
Razman, a controversial figure, has faced multiple penalties over the years. He was fined for violating the Movement Control Order in 2020 and has been ordered to pay damages in defamation cases. These include RM250,000 to Lim Guan Eng in 2023 and RM254,150 to Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin in 2017.
PAS grassroots believe there is no urgent need for contests in top positions such as the deputy presidency. However, PAS Kuang deputy election chief Fauzan Madzlan stated that the party is prepared to appoint any leader, whether vice-presidents or central committee members, as PN’s ‘poster boy’.
“In my opinion, in PAS, there is no problem appointing anyone as prime minister, and PAS is ready to appoint vice presidents or other central committee members to the position,” he said
He also supports keeping Tuan Ibrahim in the party’s second-highest position.
Among those widely seen as a promising candidate for the role is vice-president Datuk Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar.
