Pas Calls For Anti Graft Probe Of Skycity Theme Park
A woman visiting a theme park in Shah Alam was slightly injured when she was struck by a dislodged float from a water slide.
PETALING JAYA: Selangor PAS has urged the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission to investigate the operations of a glass water slide in Shah Alam where a woman was struck by a dislodged float on Wednesday.
State PAS secretary Zaidy Abdul Talib said MACC should investigate “if certain parties had intervened” to allow the SkyCity theme park to operate the glass water slide without the Shah Alam city council’s approval.
On Wednesday night, a woman was struck by a float dislodged from the glass slide. She was walking underneath the water slide when the float suddenly fell and struck her body. She did not suffer serious injuries.
Police said a compound notice was issued on Nov 14 last year for the theme park being built without city approval.
A MBSA official reportedly said a stop-work notice was issued during SkyCity’s construction but this was ignored, leading to the fine, and that the ride has yet to be approved.
SkyCity’s operations have been suspended, with i-City offering refunds to those who have purchased tickets.
Separately, Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari said the state government will summon i-City’s management to answer several questions concerning SkyCity’s safety before allowing the theme park to resume operations.
“If they can fulfil the specifications set, we will review their newest safety aspects in their next application. Then it will resume operations,” he said, according to Bernama. - FMT
