Nyau, 28, said the threats were made via phone calls by someone unknown to her, claiming to represent an influential party that was also competing in the Saturday's polls.
She however declined to reveal more details on the threats, except that she would not be making a police report on the matter.
"I have received threats from an unknown individual, this person has also asked me to pull out (from standing in the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election).
"They have also said 'We are a big party, you would be wasting your time," she said when met by reporters here, today.
Commenting on her refusal to lodge a police report, Nyau said she decided against doing so as she had not experienced any untoward incidents.
"No, (there are no plans to make a police report) because this person didn't do anything to me. This (threat) only happened once.
"After this (the by-election) is over, nobody will disturb me, so I'm letting it be. It's okay, I am okay," she said.
The Kuala Kubu Baharu state seat by-election will see a four-cornered fight between Pakatan Harapan (PH), Perikatan Nasional (PN) and two more candidates.
It would be contested by PN's Khairul Azhari Saut, PH's Pang Sock Tao, Hafizah Zainudin of Parti Rakyat Malaysia (PRM) and Nyau, who is contesting as an independent.
The by-election was triggered by the death of three-term Kuala Kubu Baharu assemblyman Lee Kiong Hiong of DAP.
In last year's Selangor state election, Lee won the seat for Pakatan Harapan in a four-cornered fight against candidates from PN, Muda and Parti Rakyat Malaysia.
Meanwhile, Nyau did not discount the possibility of losing in the by-election this Saturday.
"I dont know (if I can win or not), but I am confident that I will be able to get my deposit back.
"But to win, I'm not sure because there are two giants (candidates from PH and PN)." - NST
