Dzulkefly Wasn T Giving Out Election Goodies Says Source
Pictures of duit raya envelopes bearing health minister Dzulkefly Ahmad’s picture have gone viral on social media. (X pic)PETALING JAYA: Health minister Dzulkefly Ahmad was not giving out election goodies in the unity government’s campaign for the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election, says a source close to the matter.
Dzulkefly has come under fire on social media, and most recently from Bersatu Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal, for allegedly handing out duit raya to Kuala Kubu Baharu voters.
The source said the minister had only officially handed out duit raya in hospitals before nomination day on April 27.
“Dzulkefly gave Raya envelopes to Ampang Hospital staff on April 10, Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) staff on April 11 and to other people during his visits.
“He also went to the National Blood Centre on April 24 and to the Kuala Kubu Baharu Hospital and HKL again on April 26,” he said.
The source said as health ministry staff are regularly rotated, not all hospital or clinic staff are Kuala Kubu Baharu voters.
“Dzulkefly also did not announce new projects or upgrades to any health facility. He did talk about a new block to be built, but that was already in the 2024 budget passed in Parliament in December 2023.
“So, there were no election bribes. These are malicious accusations because the opposition has no other issue to play with (in the by-election),” he said.
Dzulkefly has been accused on social media of handing out money to voters in Kuala Kubu Baharu, with pictures of duit raya envelopes bearing his picture going viral on social media.
Earlier today, Wan Fayhsal called on the Election Commission to investigate Dzulkefly for allegedly handing out envelopes in Kuala Kubu Baharu.
“We were shocked by pictures of Dzulkefly handing out envelopes. I’m not sure what was in the envelopes, but they were handed out in Kuala Kubu Baharu.
“I call on the EC to investigate what ‘sweets’ the Madani ministers offer every time they campaign in Kuala Kubu Baharu,” he said at a press conference.
