Quoting a source, Berita Harian reported that the anti-graft agency seized a bungalow, a condominium, an office and a plot of land in the Klang Valley.
It is estimated that these properties are worth a total of RM620 million.
Also seized were four luxury cars worth RM2 million.
According to a MACC source, the suspect is believed to be a shareholder in the golf club.
“MACC also froze 72 accounts, both personal and belonging to the company, where some RM390,000 were kept,” the source was quoted as saying.
It is also understood that MACC had recorded the statements of nine witnesses.
When contacted, MACC’s special operations division senior director Zamri Zainul Abidin confirmed the seizure.
On July 3, the MACC nabbed a company director with the title “Datuk Wira” for allegedly laundering approximately RM75 million.
MACC said that preliminary investigations suggested that the money was channelled into a company owned by the suspect, who is in his 50s.
It is believed that the offence occurred in 2012 and is linked to a RM400 million loan for a fibre network development project.
The MACC had launched a special operation codenamed “Op Fibre” on June 30, which saw raids carried out at four separate locations, including the suspect’s residence and office in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur, respectively.
It was later reported that the company director is believed to have bribed the CEO of a bank to approve a loan for a fibre network development project. - FMT
