Gerakan Wants Quick Action Against Dirty Cops Linked To Geng Nicky

Gerakan has demanded the police force to speed up action against dirty cops who were allegedly involved with the notorious “Geng Nicky”, a gang linked to Winner Dynasty Group founder Nicky Liow.
This came after the police only made its first arrest on April 21 despite the Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador having revealed that 34 police officers and enforcement agency officers were involved as members of “Geng Nicky”, three weeks ago.
“It is about time the same, speedy action is also taken against dirty cops. The top cop cannot allow any perception of cover-ups to fester,” said Gerakan vice-president Baljit Singh in a Facebook posting today.
“Hamid had prior to this, stated that many policemen were believed to have had a role in Liow escaping a police dragnet meant to cripple the gang,” he said.
However, only a 40-year-old senior officer, who is said to head a department at one of the district police headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, was arrested under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act (Sosma).
“I applaud news of the ASP’s arrest. However, Malaysians are waiting with bated breath for more speedy action by the police to clean up the force.
“As it is, the people are already questioning the seemingly lethargic response by police to act against their own ranks, even when it involves highly publicised cases,” Baljit said.

He then cited the Macau Scam scandal, in which police officers were allegedly involved in releasing the suspects.
“It was announced that the officers were still on duty even as they were being probed under Section 217 of the Penal Code. They were believed to have received a sum of money to release the suspects involved in the scam, all of whom were Chinese nationals.
“It has been more than a month since the state police chief announced that they were wrapping up the probe. There has been no news whatsoever of any further action (on Geng Nicky),” he said.
Baljit added that it is mind-boggling how some police suspects are still being allowed to don their uniforms without any further action, like a suspension or even a reduction in pay, while the probe against them is being completed.
He said the police cannot go on saying they are conducting "internal investigations" whenever news of scandals like the Macau Scam in Penang and activities of Geng Nicky is publicised.
The people are fed up with reading about dirty cops, he said, and they want to see action where the dirty cops are hauled to court and charged.
Liow is believed to have obtained information about the March 20 operation through police officers and personnel as well as enforcement agencies under his payroll.
The police were investigating Liow under various criminal offences, including organised crime, money laundering, Macau Scam, and commercial crime cases.
The 33-year-old is also believed to be involved with a notorious triad leader and head of an international drug-trafficking syndicate known as the 14K, Wan Kuok Koi @ Broken Tooth Koi. - Mkini
