Fadhlina Says Calls For Resignation Drive Her To Do Better
Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek has described calls for her resignation as a motivating factor pushing her to perform better.
While acknowledging her flaws and weaknesses, the minister said she has opted to view such criticisms as a chance to improve herself.
“When I choose to be a politician, I have to face all kinds of criticism.
“I have my own weaknesses, but I am focused on doing my best,” The Star quoted her as saying during a special media briefing with senior editors in Putrajaya today.
Affirming that her ministry will strive to “do better,” Fadhlina added that Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim had advised her to remain patient, with the latter citing “greater challenges” he had faced during his tenure as education minister from 1986 to 1991.

Yesterday, activists, students, and concerned members of the public gathered to hand over a memorandum on school safety to Fadhlina, following mounting widespread distress regarding a spike in violent incidents on school premises.
The memorandum handover saw Fadhlina receiving a copy of the document amid chants demanding her resignation.
The memorandum, prepared by the Sekretariat Sekolah Selamat, also gave the ministry 30 days to implement 11 demands, warning that failure to do so would result in amplified calls for Fadhlina to step down.
Earlier, the Education Ministry announced several measures to enhance safety and address disciplinary issues in its education institutes, including additional funds for CCTVs and improved mental health screening for students. - Mkini
