Dap Slams Pas Mp For Likening Malaysia To Palestine Calls Remarks Extreme
A DAP leader has criticised Pengkalan Chepa MP Ahmad Marzuk Shaary over remarks likening Malaysia’s situation to Palestine, describing the comments as “extreme and unacceptable”.
DAP vice-chairperson Syahredzan Johan said Marzuk’s Facebook post titled “Learning from the history of Palestine: Let us not repeat the same mistake” falsely portrayed Malaysia’s non-Muslim and non-bumiputera citizens as threats to Malay-Muslim interests.
The Bangi MP called out the PAS lawmaker who equated the non-Malay and non-Muslims with Israel’s oppressive actions against Palestinians.
“We all stand united in opposing Israel’s cruelty and the inhumane actions of the Zionist regime. There’s no dispute about that.
“To link non-Muslim and non-Malay Malaysians with what Israel has done to Palestinians is extreme and unacceptable,” Syahredzan said in a statement.
Marzuk yesterday shared on Facebook excerpts from his speech in Pengkalan Chepa, Kelantan, where he had urged Muslims to learn from Palestine’s history, claiming that “signs of the same thing happening” could now be seen in Malaysia.

Pengkalan Chepa MP Ahmad Marzuk Shaary“The economic sector is increasingly dominated by non-Muslims and non-bumiputera. Major malls, key companies, and strategic lands have long slipped from the grasp of Muslims.
“Now, their steps have reached Putrajaya - drafting laws, writing acts, and slowly redrawing the political power map of this nation,” Marzuk said.
He further warned that “Palestine’s history is now writing a new chapter on Malaysian soil if we remain asleep”, linking the alleged trend to PAS’ political struggle.

Syahredzan, however, reminded PAS that Malaysia was built through the cooperation of all races and faiths, adding that Marzuk had no right to question their sincerity “for narrow political gain”.
“Non-Malays and non-Muslims have stood shoulder to shoulder with Malays and Muslims in building this beloved nation,” he pointed out.
Reject divisive politics
Syahredzan noted that the remarks came shortly after Malaysians celebrate Deepavali in a spirit of unity, and urged the public to reject divisive politics.
“Unfortunately, PAS leaders like Marzuk are willing to portray non-Malays and non-Muslims as hidden enemies with malicious intent against Malays and Muslims.
“PAS continues to promote divisive, outdated racial politics. Malaysians who cherish our multiracial nation must reject such politics,” he said.
The DAP leader also called on PAS’ Perikatan Nasional allies, as well as partners in the loose Ikatan Prihatin Rakyat coalition, to state their position on Marzuk’s comments. - Mkini
