Dolla S Too Revealing Outfit Controversy Shifts From Dress Code To Religious Rights Freedom Debate

IF the Dolla dress code polemic sparked by Religious Affairs Minister Datuk Dr Na’im Mokhtar is intended as a smokescreen to divert attention away from the thorny Kampung Papan home demolition issue in Klang, then it has achieved its objective but at an ‘unhealthy’ price.
This is because it has triggered a war of words in cyberspace over citizenry rights given some constitutionally inapt rightists/conservatives have enraged their non-Muslim compatriots (even Muslims are taken aback) by going to the extent of staking claims that “Malaysia is a Muslim country” to side Na’im.

To re-cap, the former Shariah Court chief judge had threatened to file shariah charges against Wan Sabrina Wan Rosli a.k.a. Sabronzo of the all-girls band group for allegedly being “too s*xy” in their latest music video (MV) for the song Question.
“We’re a Muslim country with guidelines that must be respected,” penned syaffffffffff (@_syepiii) on X in reaction to a Dolla fan who contended that the band “literally did nothing to deserve this (the action by their producer Universal Music Malaysia to take down their latest MV).

“They’ve talent and popularity but it’s unnecessary to go to the point of breaking the country’s law and Islamic rules? If they were an entirely non-Muslim group, maybe people wouldn’t care but it’s clearly obvious one of them is Muslim. Accept the reprimand and do better,”
Another so-called rightist chipped in with a tinge of sarcasm: “Dolla is majority non-Muslim. (But) do respect the religion of the majority”.
Dolla is majority non-muslim. Sila hormat agama majoriti.

The naivety of claiming that “Malaysia is a Muslim county” inevitably triggered trading barbs, particularly from constitutionally enlightened netizens with even Muslims themselves stepped in to be counted.
As succinctly explained by old-timer Annoyed Malaysians (@annoyedmsian) “Malaysia is a plural faith multi-cultural country”.
“Even if majority of Malaysians are Muslims, not all of them want to be policed by the religious 3M patriarchy like you, sis. Haha,” snubbed the self-proclaimed liberal secularist.

Muslims speak up
As highlighted by social observer شكينة (@_nsyakinah), Na’im’s action “is such an overstep” by the authority to “heavily control (Muslim) women” while the men folks are free to marry underage brides/have their marriage solemnised in Thailand, ustaz sod*mising children or wives subject to “go up and down the court to get a divorce”.
“It’s not normal or right to have this much control over an individual. unless the person stripped n*ked in the street or wear objects that are clearly offensive like Nazi symbols,” argued the netizen with a penchant for fashion design.
this is such an overstep of authority that will heavily control women more. meanwhile nikah kanak2, kahwin kat siam, ustad liwat budak, isteri terpaksa naik turun mahkamah untuk cerai semua krik2.
everyone please open your eyes the government should never have this much control https://t.co/AaoDAVclOO

“Everyone has the right to freedom of clothing. Don’t let them use the name of Islam to erode your rights.”
Added @_nsyakinah: “They’re calling me a libtard (abbreviation of liberal + retard) but this post has thousands of likes and from my notifications. There’s another thing – the narrative that only liberal infidel apostate advocate for personal rights. Extremism is killing us.”
Well, perhaps it is high time for Dolla to contemplate ‘selling’ their talents to regional countries that would accept their appearances, eg Singapore or Indonesia.
Grab moved their based from Malaysia to Singapore due to politics in Malaysia & look at how successful they are right now.
Dolla, it’s your turn. https://t.co/uvbIqiZN2O

Looks like Dolla got to move overseas…Singapore or Indonesia to stave of such rulings. Talented but local Muslims don’t like https://t.co/B0LonZ5Oan
