Bersatu Should Reveal What Wan Saiful Did To Get Expelled
YOURSAY | 'Is Bersatu putting nation first or its president?'
Bersatu sacks Wan Saiful, suspends Wan Fayhsal
Wan duo: Bersatu not for one person to save their family
GP2025: Tasek Gelugor MP Wan Saiful Wan Jan and four Bersatu division chiefs were sacked for going against “the party constitution and its Code of Ethics and Conduct”.
Please spell out exactly what they have done.
Collecting statutory declarations (SDs) to show a lack of support for party president Muhyiddin Yassin is a democratic act and does not violate democratic principles, especially when Muhyiddin refused to hold an election to prove his support.
Muhyiddin's refusal smacks of tyranny. Keep in mind, it was this party president who collected SDs and took them to the king to form the government in 2020.
Why should a similar act now be considered a violation of party rules?
All this is aimed at keeping (in power) a president, who apparently does not have majority support in his party.
He will do nothing to alleviate the stress of the party's supporters who are suffering without constituency allowances and increasingly finding it hard to resist the purported cash bait of the government.
The opposition led by this leadership is now powerless to remove an incumbent government that has brought shame and disrepute to the nation, just so that a leader can have more time to come back as PM? Shame on Bersatu!
Very clearly, the motivation behind this sacking and suspension is to protect a president who has apparently lost the majority support of his party but does not want to face it.
The most important question to ask is: Is this for the good of the nation? Is Bersatu putting the nation first or its president? Will Bersatu now be able to offer itself as an alternative to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim?
For the sake of the party president, the people now must put up with an appointed government that brings shame and disrepute. Will he lose or win his Malay voters?
Justice for All 2025: Although many weird things can be done in Bolehland, certain things remain undoable (tak boleh), especially if you want to change the boss or unseat the number one.
We are not like Thailand, France or the United Kingdom where one can challenge the number one and replace him or her with another candidate.
Here, we practise “selective democracy”.
Pink: Former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad, former ministers Maszlee Malik, and Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman - the founding figures of Bersatu - have all left the party. Yet, Bersatu remains intact, continuing to grow stronger.
It was never built around personalities, but upon core values of integrity and accountability. In Bersatu, the true star is the party itself, not the individuals.
Meanwhile, PKR is already saturated with opportunists, so their (Wan Saiful and Machang MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal, who was suspended from Bersatu) applications to the party (if ever) are unlikely to be welcomed.
Running as independents is almost an impossible feat, which means their political careers are effectively dead.
Coward: PAS may take Wan Saiful as an ordinary party member, but he will be given no position. He wants a position, not membership.
If PAS takes him in as a leader, it is a clear sign that they feel they are taking charge of Perikatan Nasional and sidelining Bersatu.
Whatever the rhetoric, they know they still need Bersatu to stand a chance to form a government in the next election.
He doesn't need to join Madani (or PKR) to remain as MP. Come election, he will be tossed aside. No party to back him is a deposit-losing moment.
Umno has its own cronies to feed. He is not of interest to any other Pakatan Harapan parties or PAS, for that matter. How about Gerakan?
Wan Saiful now surely realised that he is only a pawn in the big boys' game of chess. Now that he is sacrificed, I wonder how he feels.
Winning Scarecrow: Out of deep respect for Bersatu secretary-general Azmin Ali, who is a staunch ally of our winning PAS, the Islamic party will never accept Wan Saiful.
It is only natural for Anwar to accept him since both men have no respect for Azmin.
Wan Saiful will be a great asset to both PKR and DAP in Penang since he can win Malay votes for the two parties.
By supporting Anwar, he can also get extra allocation from the PM to develop his constituency, like the six former Bersatu MPs who expressed support for Anwar earlier. It is a win-win outcome for Anwar and Wan Saiful.
PKR will naturally take him to help recover the ground lost to PN in Penang. Wan Saiful is a fighter and he may use the issue of Azmin's alleged video from Sandakan as a weapon against his political enemies when the time comes.
It is not different from Anwar’s own experience when he was sacked from Umno by Mahathir.
Wan Saiful will become a great leader like Anwar. And they both have Azmin as their common enemy.
Meerkat: Wan Saiful, there is nothing holding you back from revealing all you know about Azmin now.
Cefoo: Wan Saiful… eagerly waiting for the million ringgit story you promised. My popcorn and coke are ready.
Em Em Kay: Bersatu has sacked Wan Saiful after he spoke out about certain party leaders. In any case, PKR should be wary and avoid recruiting him, given his ongoing legal entanglements from the PN ruling era!
Traveloka Winning: I still think that our winning PAS is a good choice for Wan Saiful. There are a few problems with PKR.
We seriously don't know the long-term viability of PKR in Penang and beyond, given the spread of the Green Wave - PAS support spreading beyond its traditional seats in Kelantan and Terengganu.
Salvage Malaysia: This is Bersatu’s eradication of Hamzah Zainudin’s faction, like what happened in PKR in eradicating Azmin’s faction.
Bersatu, you have inadvertently become the cheerleader for Harapan to continue being the government post the 16th general election. Not a good move.
PurpleJaguar0553: Well, not going to shed any tears here. This guy, Wan Saiful, betrayed the mandate given in 2018. A political opportunist who played for the other political opportunist, Hamzah, and lost.
Letdown Since 2018: Political parties that say they are democratic leaders cannot be challenged. Those seen to be a threat are sacked or suspended.
This has been happening over and over. Nothing new. It is all about holding on to power, especially in rich parties. - Mkini
