Ask Voters If They Will Get Angry With Bn If Ge15 Held During Floods Pm To Media

Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob today sidestepped questions by the media on whether it is okay for the country to hold the 15th general election at the end of this year due to the monsoon season, which causes flooding in many parts of the country.
This comes after BN chairperson Ahmad Zahid Hamidi seemed to be adamant about having the polls carried out by this year come hell or high water.
Ismail Sabri told reporters who asked him about the matter this evening that he would discuss for suitable election date with the Umno top five leaders soon, where they would "deliberate on all issues" related to holding GE15, including the aspect of weather.
Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi"We haven't discussed among the (Umno) top five, and to decide on a date for GE15, it will have to be deliberated with the top five,” he told reporters during a doorstop interview after launching the National Energy Policy 2022-2040 in Putrajaya earlier today.
However, when pressed further on whether holding the election soon during the monsoon season would be beneficial for BN or anger voters - Ismail Sabri suggested that the media find out what public sentiment would be like.
"That is a good question. The media can interview the rakyat (if they will be happy or angry with BN should the election be held during floods)," he said.
Two days ago, Zahid, during a BN event in Titiwangsa, Kuala Lumpur reportedly said that the coalition is prepared to wade through floods if GE15 is held during the monsoon season.
After receiving many criticisms for his remarks, the Umno president released a statement on Facebook earlier today, saying that BN wants an early general election to put a stop to Pakatan Harapan's ongoing nationwide campaign to discredit the ruling coalition.
He also reminded the opposition and non-BN parties that the 1999 general election was held in November. - Mkini
