Anwar Pkr Willing To Cooperate If Muda Shares Similar Manifesto
JOHOR POLLS | PKR president Anwar Ibrahim said the party is still willing to help Muda in the Johor election if the youth-based party adopts a similar manifesto.
"If Muda shares the same spirit and manifesto as Pakatan Harapan and resolves the negotiation issues that happened, I do not think we will have a problem working together to ensure their candidates win.
"So, we wait for their response, and InsyaAllah (god willing), it will be positive," he said last night during the launch of the party's election machinery for the state election.
Previously, Johor PKR chief Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh said several rounds of negotiations with Muda were unsuccessful.
Muda then accused PKR of "terminating" electoral pact negotiations by prematurely announcing its candidates for the upcoming Johor legislative assembly polls.
After announcing their final batch of candidates on Saturday, Anwar had said that PKR had negotiated with Muda, but the party could not wait any longer and had to move on.
PKR president Anwar IbrahimMuda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman said his party leadership will convene to decide the way forward, adding that if clashes between PKR and Muda cannot be avoided, Muda will leave the decision to voters.
At the moment, PKR does not plan to contest in the six seats which Amanah and DAP have offered to Muda, but local leaders have warned they may retaliate if Muda tries to contest in PKR seats.
During the 2018 general election, PKR won five state seats in Johor. Muda will be making its electoral debut during the upcoming polls.
Johoreans will go to the polls on March 12. The nomination day is fixed for Feb 26. - Mkini
