Move On Stop Threats And Intimidation Pkr Tells Muda
PKR president Anwar Ibrahim (centre) together with the party’s final seven candidates whom he announced today. PKR is contesting 20 seats in Johor.PASIR GUDANG: Johor PKR has declared that its seat negotiations with Muda for the state elections are over and has asked recently-registered Muda to “move on and stop with its threats and intimidation”.
Johor PKR leader Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh said the party has decided to put the seat negotiations behind them and would start to focus on the battles in the 20 seats it will contest.
“We gave Muda 48 hours to get back to us with its proposals for further discussion. However, since there was no feedback, we decided to announce our candidates and the seats they will be vying for,” he said.
Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman had warned yesterday of clashes with PKR if seat negotiations between the two parties failed.
He said Muda had informed DAP and Amanah of its intention to avoid any seat clashes with PKR, adding that it was ready to continue negotiations with the Anwar Ibrahim-led party.
“If there are no developments and changes in decision from the PKR leadership on Muda-PKR seats, the Muda leadership will hold a special meeting to discuss the way forward this weekend,” he had said.
Syed Ibrahim said the party was prepared for further negotiations but after reading Syed Sadiq’s statement, it was over as far as he was concerned.
“However, we consider Muda as an opposition party fighting the same enemy. There is no need to threaten or intimidate. It’s best the party puts in all its efforts in the six seats it was given. We have 20 seats to handle,” he said.
Syed Ibrahim said PKR’s negotiations with Muda failed after it had asked for certain urban and mixed seats.
Earlier, Anwar announced seven more candidates from the party for the Johor elections on March 12, making it a total of 20 seats that it will be vying for.
One of them is state PKR Youth exco member Omar Mokhtar A Manap, 29, (Johor Lama) who is also the party’s youngest candidate.
The others are Abd Rahim (Senggarang), Haryati Abu Nasir (Semarang), Haniff@Ghazali Hosman (Benut), Zaiful Bakri (Kukup), Zulinah A Johari (Tenggaroh) and Rosman Tahir (Tanjung Surat). - FMT
