Anwar Leaves Istana Negara To Hold Presser At 2pm

All eyes were on PKR president Anwar Ibrahim's audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah today as speculation mounts over another change of government.



At 9.30am this morning, around 50 media personnel were seen outside the Istana Negara Gate 2.
Several police officers were patrolling near the gate.
At around 10.25 am, Anwar entered the palace in a black Jaguar XJ L. It was driven straight through the palace gates with all its windows up.
Palace officials also distributed food to media personnel.




At around 11.30am, Anwar left the palace, again in the black Jaguar.
He lowered his car window to wave and smile at the media. He didn't comment on the outcome of his audience with the Agong.
A handful of PKR supporters were heard chanting "Reformasi" outside the palace after Anwar left.

Following his departure from the palace, PKR Communications Director Fahmi Fadzil announced that Anwar would be holding a special press conference regarding "an important announcement post-audience with the Agong", at 2pm at Le Meridien Hotel in Kuala Lumpur.
Anwar had since late last month sought an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong after claiming to have secured enough numbers in Parliament to form a new government.


The opposition leader did not disclose the exact number or the identities of MPs who backed him, but a website had subsequently published a purported list of 121 MPs across all parties.
A check by Malaysiakini found that the purported list is no longer accessible and various MPs named had reportedly distanced themselves or outrightly denied support for Anwar.
Several Umno lawmakers, including Arau MP Shahidan Kassim and Besut MP Idris Jusoh, have also lodged police reports to deny their involvement in Anwar's countercoup after their names appeared on the purported list.
Federal CID director Huzir Mohamed confirmed the police received six reports on the matter and that Anwar had been summoned for questioning yesterday morning.
The questioning has however been postponed to an undisclosed later date as Anwar's private secretary reportedly said the Port Dickson MP would only be available at 9am today.
Meanwhile, in a brief update on his Facebook page, Anwar posted a photograph of himself and his wife Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail saying that he hoped today's matters would proceed smoothly.
