Albert To Lip Eng I Don T Think You Ve Guts To Oppose Anwar
Albert Tei has accused DAP lawmaker Lim Lip Eng of lacking the courage to confront Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, whom the businessperson claims is intent on protecting Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) leaders implicated in the mining scandal.
“Lim asked me why I did not cooperate with him back then. Perhaps he forgot that on Nov 11 last year, when he offered his suggestion to me, on the same day, my lawyer had sent a letter to the prime minister regarding the corruption scandal.
“Does Lim still remember the response from the prime minister? How Anwar ignored my efforts to expose the corruption scandal because he wanted to protect the GRS government leaders for his political agenda,” he added in a statement.
Tei (above) was referring to Anwar’s refusal to provide him protection as a whistleblower, on the grounds that the businessperson was the person who offered bribes in exchange for mineral exploration licences.
Citing Anwar’s remarks, Tei said he is “not foolish” and claimed that the response was a subtle attempt to dissuade him from exposing the scandal.

“Therefore, I want to ask Lim again: are you brave enough to go against your boss’s wishes? Sorry, YB, I am not confident or convinced that you would dare to oppose the prime minister to cooperate with me,” he added.
Scandal ‘buried forever’
Tei also challenged Lim’s claim that if he had followed the lawmaker’s advice, he might not have been prosecuted because he would have submitted the information on the scandal through proper channels.
“I want to tell him that if I had listened to him, this Sabah corruption scandal would have been buried forever without anyone knowing,” he said.
Tei argued that he was prosecuted for opposing high-profile and powerful figures, not for exposing the matter through the wrong channels.
The businessperson further pointed out that DAP has now allied with GRS for the Sabah state election, accusing the party of abandoning its past principles.
“Therefore, DAP leaders avoid questioning or condemning corruption issues involving their political allies under the Madani umbrella,” he added.
‘Reap what you sow’
In an immediate response, Lim said he was unsurprised by Tei’s remarks, adding that the latter is attempting to deflect attention from his own faults by pinning the blame on Anwar and DAP.
He reminded the businessperson that the prime minister and DAP played no part in the scandal.
“You reap what you sow. Don’t drag others into a mess that you created,” the DAP MP said in a brief statement.
Yesterday, Lim raised Tei’s refusal to meet him regarding the scandal after the businessperson questioned DAP’s silence on the issue.

The Kepong MP said he had pledged to present the evidence and reveal the names of those involved in Parliament when Tei first exposed the scandal anonymously through Malaysiakini last November.
“If Tei had provided the information and evidence to me last November, I would have certainly brought the matter to Parliament for disclosure and demanded government action. It’s very likely that Tei would not have been charged in court had he channelled the information properly, as I had offered,” Lim said.
Critics have accused Anwar, who is also the Harapan chairperson, of shielding GRS politicians from investigation despite Tei furnishing video recordings, WhatsApp screenshots, and documents to substantiate his claims.
In July, Tei and two assemblypersons - Andi Suryady Bandy and Yusof Yacob - were charged in connection with the scandal. - Mkini
