Pressure Piling Up On Anwar In Cabinet Reshuffle Rumours
PRIME Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has maintained silence amid growing speculation over a Cabinet reshuffle expected in the coming weeks.
When pressed by reporters about claims that some ministers were anxious about losing their posts, Anwar merely responded, “Is that so?” without confirming or denying the rumours. He was speaking after launching the Permatang Pauh Madani Mosque Development Project in Seberang Perai Tengah today.
Earlier, Anwar jokingly invited media members to submit their own suggestions for potential Cabinet appointments.
The discussion follows remarks by Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir, who hinted that a reshuffle could take place within two or three weeks.
He said the process was part of the government’s national agenda and expressed hope that Anwar would continue supporting the Putrajaya Ideas Festival in future years, even if his position were to change.
Meanwhile, Amanah president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu affirmed that the decision to reshuffle the Cabinet lies entirely with the Prime Minister, describing it as Anwar’s sole prerogative.
“He can appoint professionals or politicians, from within or outside the coalition — that is up to him.
“Amanah will fully support his decision to strengthen the coalition ahead of the Sabah state election,” Mohamad said after officiating Amanah’s 2025 National Convention in Shah Alam.
Mohamad, who also serves as Agriculture and Food Security Minister, added that he was prepared to accept any outcome, saying, “I am ready to go anywhere.” — Focus Malaysia
