After Penang Kedah Dap Youth Wants Party To Cut Ties With Akmal
Kedah DAP Youth is next in calling for its party leadership to cut all political ties and to stop cooperating with Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh in any form whatsoever in the upcoming general election.
They claimed that Akmal’s stubbornness in organising a march and acting like a thug in Kepala Batas yesterday, following a hardware shop’s Jalur Gemilang mishap, seems to be helping Bersatu and PAS Youth to challenge the government with racist narratives.
“This act makes him like a ‘tali barut PN’ within the government.
“It is better for Akmal to continue as PN Youth chief rather than continue to hide under the unity government framework,” it said in a statement today.
In addition to often accusing other parties of being unpatriotic, Kedah DAP Youth pointed out that the Umno Youth wing, led by Akmal, has repeatedly used the wrong design and version of the Jalur Gemilang in their media releases, noting his shameful double standard.

Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh“Why not take equally firm action to condemn, beat up, or even drag its own members to ‘educate’ them?
“The thuggery and uncivilised actions shown by Akmal have proven that he is a politician who has absolutely no respect for the rule of law.
“The party that has truly tarnished the spirit of the Jalur Gemilang are the ones who have used it as a political weapon.”
Kedah DAP Youth added that Akmal’s deliberate inflaming of racial sentiments to sow hatred proved that he had strayed far from the political responsibility of young people.
They also emphasised that the basis for any political cooperation is the willingness to uphold values and seek mutual understanding.
“Clearly, in terms of principles and actions, Akmal is no longer worthy of being a cooperation partner, both in the unity government and in the context of elections.”
‘Clear and present danger’
Earlier, Penang DAP Youth similarly urged the party’s leadership to sever ties with Akmal, saying that he had gone overboard and is becoming a clear and present danger to national harmony and the rule of law.

Dr Akmal Saleh and protesters in Kepala Batas, Penang, yesterdayThis statement follows Akmal’s protest against a hardware store owner in Kepala Batas, Penang, yesterday, after the businessperson was caught on video hanging the national flag upside-down.
After the incident went viral on social media, store owner Pang Chin Tian claimed that he was measuring the length of an iron pole while hanging the national flag and did not notice that it was upside down.
Pang had since been investigated and arrested by the police. - Mkini
