Advise Akmal To Shut Up First Dap Youth Tells Tok Mat
DAP Youth has not taken kindly to Umno deputy president Mohamad Hasan’s call for rational thinking, and demanded that the latter direct his counsel to Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh instead.
Insisting that Akmal had repeatedly stoked racial tensions and undermined political stability, DAP Youth’s national executive council urged Mohamad to “face this reality” and stop defending the “bad apple” in the unity government.
“All this while, the only irrational and unreasonable party has been Akmal himself. If (Mohamad) truly wishes to offer advice, he should begin with the most Perikatan Nasional-like Umno Youth chief first.
“Tell him (Akmal) to calm down, stop wrecking the Madani government administration, and most importantly, take to heart the phrase ‘if you have nothing good to say, it’s better to keep quiet’,” the council said in a strongly-worded statement today.
ADSIt added that while cooperation between Umno and DAP within the unity government has been smooth and effective, Akmal is “stirring up trouble” and embarrassing his own party.

Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh“As (Mohamad) himself said, do not muddy our joint efforts to manage the nation. The first step is to ensure that (Akmal) keeps silent,” the council said.
It also claimed that based on Akmal’s “track record”, the Merlimau assemblyperson practises “gangster-style politics” that should have no place in a government party’s youth leader.
“(Akmal) had insulted critics by calling them disabled, attacked (DAP’s Seputeh MP) Teresa Kok with the label ‘old Nyonya’, and incited violent action over the KK Mart issue.
“Akmal is plainly a political thug, while DAP Youth is merely exposing such thuggish behaviour. Thugs should stop endangering a multiracial society, not demand that those exposing them remain silent,” it stressed.
Defending Akmal
Earlier today, Mohamad urged DAP to advise its youth wing to “return to rational thinking” and avoid rash actions that could complicate the work of the unity government
This came following calls by DAP Youth in several states to end the party’s political cooperation with Akmal.
Mohamad also reportedly maintained that Akmal’s recent rally in Kepala Batas, Penang, over an inverted national flag blunder was a “peaceful mission”, adding that it was “fortunate” nothing untoward had happened after Akmal was “provoked”.

Umno deputy president Mohamad HasanThe council, however, highlighted that the police are investigating the flag incident, and further decisions on potential prosecution will be made by proper authorities, not by “politicians playing moral police”.
“The era of dictator-style politics wielding absolute power is over. Legal matters must be handled by the relevant authorities and agencies, not turned into a political tool for personal gain for any government figure.
“DAP Youth has never threatened traders, never intimidated prosecutors, and never dragged the public to ordinary shopkeepers’ premises to ‘teach’ them how to fly the Jalur Gemilang, forcing nearby businesses to shut down on a regular day,” it emphasised.
ADSAkmal’s rally against a hardware store owner on Friday came after the businessperson was caught on video hanging the national flag upside-down.
After the incident went viral on social media, store owner Pang Chin Tian claimed that he was measuring the length of an iron pole while hanging the national flag and did not notice that it was upside down.
Pang has since been investigated and arrested by the police, while Akmal is also being probed over the rally. - Mkini
