A Rejuvenating Staycation At The Newly Renovated Palm Garden Hotel Putrajaya
A Rejuvenating Staycation at The Newly Renovated Palm Garden Hotel, Putrajaya | All work and no play makes Rawlins a dull person, and most probably, a grumpy one too, at times.
So, in order to replenish the joy for work and to rejuvenate myself to start anew at a new work place on this new year, I decided to have a staycation.
I don't want to go far - all those driving will make me even tired. The best place that ticks all my requirements is Palm Garden Hotel, Putrajaya.
A Beautiful Transformation
Palm Garden Hotel, Putrajaya, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel has just recently reopened after underwent a major facelift and transformation.
Echoing its plantation heritage, the hotel is fashioned with tall windows and open-air features, with its upper lobby and room corridors overlooking the picturesque Courtyard, a popular al fresco outlet for afternoon tête-à-têtes or evening sundowners with relaxing water features. The overall design of the hotel lobby exudes Malaysian charm and culture with a reception sporting artistic prints of bucolic rural life such as fishermen enjoying the wau (Malaysian kite) after a long day at sea, and a ceiling adorned with artistic prints and palm frond-inspired designs.
The 152 rooms new rooms are elegantly designed, showcasing elements of Malaysian culture and craft in an interior design inspired by traditional Malaysian woven designs in classic palm oil fruit colors. With guest comfort in mind, rooms feature generous windows that welcome spectacular views of the lush foliage outdoors. With room names inspired by elements of palm plants - Tamera Room, Areca Premium, Palmyra Family, Palm Suite and Royal Suite Duplex – a stay here promises to be filled with local character and charm.
A beautiful, tranquil and relaxed ambience greeted me as I entered the lobby for check-in registration. The check-in personnel was very welcoming and jovial, offering me explanation of the services with smile. An ever helpful porter assisted me with my bags (yes, I do not travel light, even for a one-night event) to my room, a Tamera Room.
The room is spacious, you could have a few friends over and sleep on additional beds on the floor, you still have room. I love that each room has a balcony that allows natural light to come in. The beds are super plush and comfy. Truthfully, I slept like a log throughout my stay (either that or I was super exhausted).
This is the best and most important factor to consider when looking for a staycation location. The bathroom has a complete amenities - the shower items are complete (body wash, hair shampoo and conditioner), toothpaste and toothbrush, comb, cotton bud and cotton pad dan shaving cream. The hairdryer is available in cupboard that houses the hotel's bathrobe and iron board and iron too. You could basically just pack your clothes with your facial regime necessities as other items are available in your room here.
That is so considerate, Palm Garden Hotel Putrajaya!
Enjoy Your Food
For all room guests, the hotel offers extra offering a nostalgic session of Kopi Dulu at the Courtyard. Kopi Dulu literally means inviting guest for a cup of Coffee First or having Coffee like the Old Days. I enjoyed the village coffee brewed from the strainer, boiling over the charcoal fire with Roti Kok and varieties of Malaysian Kuih. There are also traditional games set such as Dam Haji, Karom and Congkak available here for you to enjoy a game or two. It would be a nice distraction from the modern gadgets with your children at the game table.
New additions to the hotel include Palms Café, a fully renovated all-day dining restaurant serving a medley of local and international cuisine, and sensational buffets on selected dates. Wau and palm leaf motifs set the mood for a traditional yet contemporary ambience. I truly enjoyed having morning breakfast here as it offers a vast array of dishes, traditional, local and western alike.
I also get to dine at the Madam Lee Nyonya Private Dining, an all new signature restaurant housed separately from the main hotel buildings for a sense of destination. There's a photobooth awaits you at the lobby with costumes and props that you could wear and share via your social media accounts. The food here? I really enjoyed the flavors of exquisite Nyonya cuisine offered. The must have here is the Ayam Buah Keluak.
Things To Do While Staying Here
Takkan makan saja kan? Of course not.
In addition to its serene atmosphere, the hotel's proximity to IOI City Mall offers guests the convenience of exploring a myriad of dining, shopping, and entertainment options. Whether it's a culinary adventure, a shopping spree, or simply enjoying the vibrant atmosphere, the mall provides endless possibilities for an enriching experience.
My friends and I decided we want to conquer District 21.
District21 is a first of its kind, apocalypse themed Adventure Park. This action park is located in a 52,000 sq.ft, indoor premise with a 55ft air-conditioned atrium, within IOI City Mall, Putrajaya. Comprising 8 prominent attractions and 5 function rooms, District21 also offers an ideal venue for corporate team building events, school group visitations and birthday parties. Void of ‘passive’ rides, the credo of District21 is Fun, Passion, and its Participation requires the engagement of the entire family. Incorporating 8 adventure attractions, many of which have never been seen in Asia, District21 offers activities for all visitors to get you climbing, jumping, riding, sliding and flying.
I tried most of the games there - Launch Pad, Tubby Ride, Maze, Roller Glider and Sky Trail. I wanted to try Free Fall but chickened out at the very last minute. We spent a good 3 hours there and we were all spent!
We also had a 40 minute zumba session beside the pool. Then we dove into the pool and had a photoshoot session, pool version.
