2 Passengers Allowed For Medical Purposes Emergencies

Taxis and e-hailing vehicles can only take one passenger at a time except for vaccination and hospital appointments and emergencies.PETALING JAYA: Senior minister for security Ismail Sabri Yaakob has clarified the rules during lockdown for taxis and e-hailing vehicles.
At a press conference, he said only two persons are allowed in a vehicle including the driver, with the passenger required to sit behind.
However, exemptions will be given for emergencies or people travelling for medical purposes, with a maximum of three people allowed in the car , including the driver.
Medical trips include hospital appointments or Covid-19 vaccinations. For hospital appointments, passengers should bring along a letter from their doctor. Vaccine recipients need only to show their appointment on the MySejahtera application.
Passengers and drivers should comply with the Covid-19 SOPs at all times, such as wearing of masks.
Earlier today, a taxi group urged Putrajaya to finalise the SOPs for taxis after the government’s rules had clashed with those announced by Inspector-General of Police Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani at a press conference.
Previously, Ismail had said a maximum of two persons would be allowed in taxis or e-hailing vehicles, including the driver. However, Acryl Sani later said three persons could be in the vehicle at a time.
This prompted Gabungan Pertubuhan Teksi, Kereta Sewa, Limosin dan Teksi Lapangan Terbang Se’Malaysia (GTSM) president Kamarudin Mohd Hussain to call on the authorities to streamline their guidelines before issuing them.
He said there were thousands of complaints from members nationwide of confusion when stopped at roadblocks, with policemen also seemingly unaware of the SOPs. - FMT
