15 Year Old Girl Succumbs To Covid 19
KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): A 15-year-old Malaysian girl was reported to have died in Sabah of COVID-19 on Thursday (Dec 24).
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the teen died at the Lahad Datu Hospital but did not give details on the victim’s health background.
"It saddens me to announce that there have been two deaths due to COVID-19 today, bringing the cumulative number of Covid-19 deaths in Malaysia to 446 (0.45% of the total cases), ” he said in a statement on Thursday.
The second victim was a 61-year-old man who died at the Duchess of Kent Hospital in Sandakan and was reported to have had a history of high blood pressure, dyslipidemia, and stroke.
In addition, Dr Noor Hisham said four new Covid-19 clusters were detected in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur, involving three workplaces.
He said that to date there were 102 cases being treated in intensive care units, of whom 45 were intubated.
In conjunction with Christmas celebrations, he reminded people to maintain compliance with the standard operating procedures stipulated, to reduce infection risks among families and friends by practising the new normal.
In line with the latest technology developments, he encouraged people to utilise video calls instead of visiting so as to protect elderly and vulnerable groups from being infected.
"As the number of COVID-19 cumulative cases hits 100,318, the public is advised to be more vigilant and careful in reducing the risk of COVID-19 transmission.
"May the difference in this year’s celebration be a memory to be remembered in the future, ” he said. – Bernama
