Zara S Mum Had No Tears Left To Cry Witness

The Coroner’s Court was informed today that Noraidah Lamat, the late Zara Qairina Mahathir’s mother, expressed that she had “no tears left to cry” on the long journey from her home in Sipitang to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, about 130km away.
Azhari Abd Sagap, 31, hostel head warden at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama Tun Datu Mustapha in Papar, was testifying on the 10th day of the inquest into the teenager’s death.
According to Azhari, school officials also offered condolences and comforted Noraidah to remain patient in the face of the tragedy that had befallen her daughter.
“When we met Noraidah at the hospital around 10am on July 16, she appeared calm and was not crying.
ADS“She said, ‘I have no tears left, crying from Sipitang to the hospital,’” said Azhari under examination by counsel Joan Goh, who represents one of the minors accused in Zara’s bullying case.
The eighth witness further testified that while in the hospital’s Emergency Unit, Noraidah recounted her daughter’s cheerful nature, saying Zara (above) was an avid writer and owned three diaries.
He added that Noraidah had requested that the diaries be handed over to her, and made similar requests to several other wardens.
Azhari, however, informed her that the diaries in question had already been surrendered to the police.
Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama Tun Datu MustaphaThe inquest proceedings before Coroner Amir Shah Amir Hassan will resume on Monday, with a child witness expected to give evidence.
Zara died on July 17 at Queen Elizabeth Hospital and was buried at the Tanjung Ubi Muslim cemetery in Sipitang the same day.
She was admitted to the hospital a day earlier after being found unconscious near a drain at her school hostel in Papar at 4am.
On Aug 8, the Attorney-General’s Chambers ordered her remains to be exhumed for a post-mortem, before announcing an inquest into her death on Aug 13.
