Zahid Announces 3 New Umno State Chairpersons

Umno has announced the appointment of former Umno vice president Mahdzir Khalid as the new chairperson to lead the party in Kedah, replacing Jamil Khir Baharom.
Mahdzir was among three new Umno state chairpersons announced by party president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today.
Arau Umno division chief Rozabil Abdul Rahman is replacing Azlan Man as Perlis Umno chairperson after the latter lost the race for Kangar division chief.
Meanwhile, former Umno supreme council member Jalaluddin Alias has been appointed as the Negeri Sembilan Umno chairperson.
“In Perlis, Rozabil is appointed as the chairperson, while his deputy is Mohd Fathul Bari Mat Jahaya. In Kedah, Mahdzir is the chairperson, while his deputy is Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim.
“...In Negeri Sembilan, Jalaluddin is the chairperson, while his deputy is Hashim Rusdi; Malacca (chairperson is) Ab Rauf Yusoh, and his deputy (is) Rais Yasin,” said Zahid at a press conference at the Umno headquarters in Kuala Lumpur today.
Earlier, before the announcement, Zahid chaired the Umno supreme council’s first meeting since the party election on Saturday.
At the meeting, Umno supreme council members who won the election also took their oaths of office before Zahid and Umno deputy president Mohamad Hasan.
Meanwhile, Zahid stressed that Umno will continue to support the coalition government led by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to ensure the country’s stability.
“The most important thing is that the current leadership supports the existing unity government. Umno’s support is well-integrated.
“Umno fully supports Anwar’s leadership as prime minister,” he added.
Commenting on the distribution of seats for the upcoming state elections, the Bagan Datuk MP said informal talks have already taken place, but formal negotiations have yet to begin.
