Withdraw Support For Pn If No Snap Polls Held Soon Ku Li Tells Umno
Umno veteran Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah has called on the party’s MPs to retract their support for the Perikatan Nasional (PN) administration if snap elections are not called by the first quarter of this year.
(FMT) – In a Facebook post, Tengku Razaleigh said this was decided upon by representatives of the Gua Musang Umno division in a recent meeting.
“The PN government that was formed has denied the rights and voices of Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN) in the current government,” he said.
Tengku Razaleigh, better known as Ku Li, said this was despite Umno and BN playing a crucial role in the fall of the previous Pakatan Harapan (PH) administration.
“The question Umno is facing now is a matter of life and death, the question of the future and the survival of the party,” he said, adding that the party’s grassroots at branch level had decided against cooperating with PPBM.
He also said Umno must take part in no less than the number of parliamentary and state seats contested in the 14th general election (GE14).
Each of the party’s divisions should be given the freedom to decide on their candidates for GE15, he said.
Tengku Razaleigh said Umno should focus on strengthening its cooperation with PAS through Muafakat Nasional. However, this partnership must be reviewed should PAS fail to prioritise its relationship with Umno.
Yesterday, 143 out of Umno’s 191 divisions had informed the party’s leadership that they were against working together with PPBM for GE15.
Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the decision should be accepted as the party’s official decision, and has called for a Supreme Council meeting on Wednesday to discuss the matter.
