Saifuddin, who is MP for Indera Mahkota, said nearly half of the MPs had spoken about the incident, but Fadhlina had not answered a single question raised while winding up the debate on the 13th Malaysia Plan on Wednesday.
“I raised the matter of Zara, the investigation, the post-mortem and the public’s hopes for a fair and transparent inquest. Nearly half of the MPs discussed the matter of bullying and about Zara,” he said in a video posted online.
“But the education minister did not touch on the matter at all when winding up,” he said.
Saifuddin said Fadhlina had also dodged the matter in the Dewan Rakyat on July 30 during the debate on the Education (Amendment) Bill. “I raised eight questions related to Zara’s death, but she did not answer a single one,” he said.
Saifuddin questioned whether the education minister was serious about overcoming the bullying problem.
Zara Qairina was found unconscious at 4am on July 16 after allegedly falling from the third floor of her school’s hostel in Papar, Sabah. She died in hospital the next day. An inquest into her death is scheduled for Sept 3.
Separately, five teenagers have been charged with uttering abusive words against Zara Qairina which could have caused her distress. - FMT
