Fadhlina Saifuddin Must Quit Over Zara S Death Pas Man
A PAS leader has called for the resignations of Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek and Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail over the death of 13-year-old Zara Qairina Mahathir.
PAS central information committee member Nurul Islam Yusoff said this is over the ministries' failures in addressing Zara's death.
"If they refuse to resign, PMX (Anwar Ibrahim) needs to intervene and replace them with other MPs in Pakatan Harapan-BN," he said in a statement today.
His personal choice as Fadhlina’s (above) replacement is Deputy Women, Family, and Community Development Minister Noraini Ahmad, who is also Wanita Umno chief.
For the Home Ministry, Nurul Islam proposed that Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also Umno president, take over from Saifuddin.
Accountability demands
Zara was found unconscious in a drain below her school dormitory in Papar on July 16 and died the following day at Queen Elizabeth Hospital I in Kota Kinabalu.
Her death, which is suspected to be linked to bullying, has sparked nationwide outrage, with many demanding accountability for the incident as well as stronger measures to counter bullying in educational institutions.

Student Zara Qairina MahathirPolice have since confirmed that a special task force from Bukit Aman will take over investigations into Zara’s death, while the Attorney-General’s Chambers has ordered an inquest into her death.
The directive for an inquest came after local authorities failed to perform an autopsy, which led to her remains being exhumed for a post-mortem following public uproar.
‘Insensitive’ education minister
Nurul Islam further listed the Education Ministry's failures:
It failed to update the public on Zara's case.
Failures in crisis communication and management.
It failed to provide a factual explanation, causing various versions of what happened to make the rounds amid public speculation.
The principal, senior assistant of student affairs, and wardens at Zara's schools were only transferred to the Sabah State Education Department after public outcry.
Teachers in Sabah were prevented from speaking out on the case.
He also pointed out Fadhlina’s alleged multiple shortcomings, including her insensitivity to the case when instructing students to wish Anwar a happy birthday and express love for him, and her refusal to personally meet student activists to hand over a memorandum outside Parliament.
In response to parents expressing their concern for their children at boarding schools, Fadhlina only gave verbal assurances without presenting any preventative measures against bullying, he added.
‘Saifuddin failed to ensure proper police probe’
As for the Home Ministry, Nurul Islam said it had made the following blunders:
Initial police investigation did not follow the appropriate procedures.
Police failed to conduct an autopsy before releasing Zara's body to her family, causing the loss of important evidence.
Police failed to collect evidence, such as the clothing Zara had worn during the incident.
Saifuddin announced the completion of the investigation on Aug 2, despite Zara's mother saying the previous day that no autopsy had been conducted and the victim's clothes had not been collected for forensic analysis.
Lack of arrests up until now.
The police announcement that no VVIPs were involved in the case despite the ongoing investigation.
Lack of a criminal investigation into the investigating officer to find out who issued the order not to conduct an autopsy and the motives behind it.

Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution IsmailPointing to these failures, Nurul Islam stressed that their resignations would appease the public.
"Only then (after the two ministers resign) will the people's anger towards the Madani government subside a little.
"Heads need to roll, PM," he said. - Mkini
