The RM1.4 million cheque expose appears to have backfired on Anwar Ibrahim. The RM1.4 million that was allegedly paid to Clare Rewcastle Brown was not paid by PAS President Abdul Hadi Awang or the party. It was paid by Rameli Musa. And neither Hadi nor PAS are aware of this payment.
Rameli Musa is the new KTMB Chairman, who was appointed around the same time he made that RM1.4 million payment to Clare.
Rameli made it big during the time Anwar Ibrahim was the Finance Minister. Rameli’s brother-in-law is Kamarudin Md Nor, who was a key player in ABIM and who Anwar appointed to head WAMY (World Association of Muslim Youths).
WAMY is based in Qatar and is the main funder for ABIM. WAMY is also said to be linked to the Egypt-based Muslim Brotherhood, which the United States has classified as a terrorist organisation.
Why Anwar asked Rameli to pay Clare the RM1.4 million and why he leaked this ‘secret’ is not known yet at this stage. Even more strange is why are they pretending that the RM1.4 million is for the out-of-court settlement between Hadi and Clare? Is this so that they can launder the money and transfer it to the UK with no questions asked?
There is also talk that Anwar wants to create the impression that Rameli is Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s ‘boy’ and that it was Mahathir who asked him to pay Clare the RM1.4 million. This will more or less be the ‘proof’ that Clare works for Mahathir and that the RM1.4 million is Mahathir’s payment to her for ‘services rendered’.

Rameli Musa was appointed the KTMB Chairman three days after paying Clare RM1.4 million (NST, 4 Feb 2019) – Datuk Dr Rameli Musa, executive vice-chairman of Ingress Corp Bhd, has been appointed chairman of Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB).
It is understood that Rameli, who was formerly chairman of Balfour Beatty Rail (BBRail) Sdn Bhd, had accepted the letter of appointment from the Ministry of Transport (MOT) here last week.
He replaces Datuk Nawawi Ahmad who announced his resignation as the company’s chairman in July 2018, after Barisan Nasional suffered a crushing defeat in the May 2018 elections.
His contract is believed to be for three years, effective February 1, 2019.
Rameli, who sits on the board of several other private limited companies, was not reachable for comment at Press time.

The bank account that the RM1.4 million came from belongs to Anwar Ibrahim crony Rameli Musa Bekas ketua Umno Pasir Puteh, Kamarudin Md Nor, keluar parti sertai PPBM (Malaysia Dateline, 9 Sep 2016) – Bekas Ketua Umno Bahagian Pasir Puteh, Datuk Kamarudin Md Nor hari ini menghantar surat berhenti menjadi ahli kepada Setiausaha Agong Umno sekaligus menguatkan desas-desus beliau akan menyertai Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM).
Surat satu perenggan itu dihantar ke Ibu Pejabat Umno Malaysia di Tingkat 38, Menara Dato’ Onn, Jalan Tun Ismail, Kuala Lumpur.
“Saya menulis surat ini untuk memaklumkan kepada YB Dato’ Seri selaku Setiausaha Agong Umno bahawa mulai hari ini saya telah keluar dari Umno dan telah berhenti menjadi ahli parti tersebut.
“Keputusan ini saya ambil dengan fikiran yang waras dan tanpa ada paksaan daripada sesiapapun,” kandungan surat bertarikh 9 September 2016 itu dipetik.
Selain mengetuai Umno Bahagian Pasir Puteh, Kamarudin juga ialah mantan Ahli Dewan Undangan Negeri (Adun) Semerak, bekas Setiausaha Agung Abim dan bekas Setiausaha Agung WAMY (World Association of Muslim Youths) Asia Pacific yang beribu pejabat di Qatar.
